In the spirit of the holidays and in remembrance of one of my favorite writer/directors in Hollywood history, John Hughes, I’m going to list my favorite twelve quotes from the movie Christmas Vacation. It wouldn’t be Christmas without watching this movie at least once.
12. Clark: You can’t see the line, can you Russ?
11. Audrey: Do you sleep with your brother? Do you know how sick and twisted that is? I have nightmares about what he does in his room alone, when I’m not lying right next to him. Ellen: Well I’m sleeping with your father. Don’t be so dramatic.
10. Clark: Yeah, it’s a non-nutritive cereal varnish. It’s semi-permeable. It’s not osmotic. What it does is it coats and seals the flake – prevents the milk from penetrating it.
9. Art: He has his own car doesn’t he? He can drive. I have to eat so I can take my back pills!
8. Eddie: She falls in a well, her eyes go crossed… She gets kicked by a mule and they go back again. I don’t know.
7. Frank Shirley: Get me somebody… Anybody. And get me somebody while I’m waiting!
6. Art: The little lights aren’t twinkling. Clark: Yes, I know Art. Thank’s for noticing.
5. Eddie: He’s got a little Mississippi leg hound in him… A word of warning to you, if he does lay into you, it’s best to just let him finish.
4. Uncle Lewis: You couldn’t hear a dump truck if it was driving through a nitro-glycerin plant!
3. Eddie: If it wouldn’t be too much, I’d like to get something for you Clark. Something really nice.

1. Margo: How did the carpet get all wet Todd? Todd: I don’t KNOW Margo!
